Movie Context And Inspirtions
What is the inspiration behind making a film about Mata Sahib Kaur Ji?
There is a lot of awareness about our Father, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, but there isn’t much about our Mother, Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. We want to bring this special and beautiful history to the lives of people around the world. This will be a life changing movie that will bring Mata Ji to the masses. #BringingMataJiToTheMasses
Moreover, our children need something on their level that keeps them connected to Sikhi. As an animation, this movie will use modern methods to help them relate to their roots.
Also, the world needs a strong female role mode – a courageous leader who inspires the masses to live with righteousness and love. There are many inspirational females in Sikh history but, sadly, there has been a lack of focus on the roles they played. An incredible place to start is Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s life.
And not to forget, Mata Sahib Kaur Ji is the ‘Jagat Mata’. She is for the whole world and pervades the limitless creation. Within the world we live in, a fully 3D animated movie is a great way to educate people.
Where has this concept come from?

Gurbax Singh wants the world to know about the incredible life of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and take lessons for their own lives. The concept of the movie will be life changing for all those who watch it!
Questions About The Movie
Will this movie be historically accurate?
The content of the movie has been thoroughly researched from older manuscripts, including Gurbilas Patshahi Dasvi (Koer Singh, 1751), Bansavalinama (Kesar Singh Chhibbar, 1769), Mehma Prakash (Saroop Das Bhalla, 1741) and SGPC (Sri Amritsar Sahib), Patiala University published authentic and well known literature. Finally, we are hoping that SGPC’s special panel will be getting involved at various stages (which they did during the production of Chaar Sahibzaade), to guide and support wherever may be needed.
Why is this movie an animation?
Animations are a great way of reaching a worldwide audience of Sikhs and non-Sikhs. The movie will be made available in several languages, including English, Punjabi, Hindi, French and German. This modern use of technology will help showcase the beautiful history of the Sikh faith, whilst maintaining respect for Sikhi, as no humans will be shown in the film.
Who is Motherhood aimed at?
It is for all of humanity. Sikhi, female empowerment, spirituality, history and motherhood are just a few of the touching points this movie will cover. Sikhs and non-Sikhs of all ages, including western audiences, will be able to relate to this movie in different ways. The main languages will be Punjabi, English, Hindi, German and French. It is a 3D animation from the same studio that brought the 3D animated movie, Chaar Sahibzaade, to a global audience.

This movie is #ForTheSangatByTheSangat. It is a community and sangat initiative. We live in a society which is media-oriented; therefore, it is our duty to support such initiatives and help promote our rich values and principles, via modern day media and communication techniques. Projects like Motherhood are made on a global scale. Usually, thousands of people end up working and contributing to bring the final product to cinematic screens. What will happen if enough funds can’t be raised via donations?
We have local investors ready to invest in this dream movie production project. But that will make it a purely commercial proposition. The sevadaars’ vision is to keep it free from commercial bureaucracy, as this is the first ever chance for the global Sikh population to get together and bring Mata Ji to the masses. But at any stage of the project, if we feel it’s needed, we can get the investors involved and finish making this dream come true.
Is this film not-for-profit?
Any profits made will be reinvested into further welfare seva projects, such as marriages of poor girls in India, feeding poor people in Punjab, providing medical and moral support to drug-stricken youth in Punjab and promoting sports amongst women in Punjab. Motherhood is a truly great project, where all Sikhs can come together and work towards one common goal – we are stronger together – in unity!
What is the animation studio’s reliability and other risks?
All the necessary technical checks and back-ups are in place at the animation studio (the production house), to avoid any delays or production failures. But, in the worst case scenario, if a natural calamity (such as earthquake, flood, etc) occurs, it may impact the duration or even production of the project overall.
